Community Partnerships

As part of our commitment to fostering community engagement and empowering residents in the First Ward, I am excited to announce a new initiative focused on filling vacant committee seats with local individuals who are passionate about making a difference in our community.

Our goal is to establish a diverse and representative group of residents to serve on various committees, ensuring that the voices and perspectives of our community are heard and considered in decision-making processes. These committees will cover a range of topics, including but not limited to:

- Economic Development

- Public Safety

- Parks and Recreation

- Education and Youth Services

- Environmental Sustainability

- Housing and Community Development

To accomplish this, we will actively reach out to First Ward residents through community meetings, neighborhood associations, and online platforms to solicit applications and nominations for committee seats. We will also collaborate with local organizations, schools, and businesses to spread awareness about the opportunity to get involved and encourage participation from a diverse cross-section of our community.

Once applications are received, we will conduct a transparent and inclusive selection process, prioritizing candidates who demonstrate a commitment to serving the best interests of the First Ward and possess relevant skills, expertise, and lived experiences. We will also ensure that committees reflect the diversity of our community in terms of demographics, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Throughout their tenure, committee members will receive training, support, and resources to fulfill their roles effectively and contribute meaningfully to the work of their respective committees. We will also establish regular communication channels to keep residents informed about committee activities, solicit feedback, and promote transparency and accountability in decision-making.

By engaging First Ward residents in this way, we not only strengthen community partnerships but also empower residents to play an active role in shaping the future of our community. Together, we will work collaboratively to address challenges, seize opportunities, and build a stronger, more resilient First Ward for generations to come.
